MP3 MP4 Player – Legal Listening
Business owners across the UK are unaware that playing music publicly without a licence – as opposed to on a personal MP3 MP4 player – is illegal.
Could your boss be breaking the law? According to a recent report on the BBC, more than half a million businesses across the UK are playing music illegally without realising it. Whether it’s a small garage with the radio on or a creative office using tunes to motivate its staff, the same rule applies – no licence, no tunes. This is why listening to music on a personal MP3 MP4 player is the only legal way to listen while you work.
MP3 MP4 Player – Music for Motivation
Many people find listening to music at work helps their motivation levels. Many businesses use an open-plan office, which whilst looking modern, can create unwanted distractions for staff. The noise of telephones, conversations, meetings, and even typing can break someone’s train of thought, or prevent them from being as creative as possible. Whilst many turn to their personal MP3 MP4 player and headphones for relief, some offices don’t allow this, or it simply isn’t appropriate (such as in a garage). But places that play music out loud could be breaking the law.
MP3 MP4 Player – Don’t Break the Law at Work
The law dictates that a licence is needed to play music in public, meaning anywhere outside of the home. There is no difference between playing tunes on a tinny radio or having a street party with a huge stereo system – the same rules apply. The money from the licence – which costs around £135 – is taken by the Performing Right Society (PRS) and distributed to the artists whose music has been played. Under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 you need to have permission from every writer or composer whose music you play publicly. So if you don’t have a licence – like many businesses – you could be taken to court and face a huge legal bill. The best solution? Make sure staff are keeping it personal with headphones, as listening to an MP3 MP4 player is legal in any location.
MP3 MP4 Player – The Legal Option
Using a personal MP3 MP4 player with headphones is not only the legal option at work, it’s also the preferred option of most staff. People’s music tastes vary so differently that listening to the radio will invariably please some and irritate others. Staff with creative tasks like writing will find it hard to concentrate with bad music and DJ chatter playing in the background. They may even resort to using their own MP3 MP4 player in an attempt to drown out the distractions, regardless of the legal issues. To make life fair for your staff – and to make your business legal – switch off the radio and allow the use of an MP3 MP4 player instead.
